Chimney sweep logs do not sweep chimneys. They loosen some creosote - which then falls where a brush and vacuum still have to collect it.
Meet the Jacksonville Team Behind Alcott Chimney Jacksonville
Alcott Chimney Jacksonville has been sweeping and repairing chimneys across Duval County and the surrounding neighborhoods since 2002. The crew you’ll meet below is the reason homeowners in Riverside, Mandarin, San Marco, and Arlington keep calling us back. Every one of them is background-checked, identity-verified, and announced to you by name and photo before they ever knock on your door. We don’t hide behind a dispatch center or a rotating cast of subcontractors. When you book with us, you know exactly who’s coming, and they’ll be wearing a photo ID badge when they arrive. That’s the Threshold Standard, and it applies to every single person on this page.

Our People
Marcus T. – Lead Technician, Chimney Sweep & Inspection
Marcus has been sweeping chimneys in Jacksonville for 14 years, and he’s seen just about everything Northeast Florida humidity can do to a flue. He’s our lead on Level 1 and Level 2 inspections, and he’s certified on HeatShield resurfacing and DuraFlex liner installation. If your chimney has a creosote problem – that’s the tar-like buildup that causes chimney fires – Marcus is usually the one explaining it to you with camera footage in hand. He lives in Mandarin and spends his weekends fishing off the St. Johns River, mostly not catching anything, as he’ll tell you himself. Ask him about the time he found a family of raccoons living in a chimney in Ortega and you’ll get the full story.
DeShawn R. – Senior Installer, Liners & Repair
DeShawn joined Alcott Chimney Jacksonville eight years ago after a decade in residential construction, which means he’s comfortable with masonry work, flue tile, and the structural side of chimney repair. He handles most of our liner replacement and HeatShield resurfacing jobs, along with crown repairs and flashing work. He’s the one who’ll tell you plainly whether a crack in your flue tile is a safety issue today or something you can watch for another season. DeShawn grew up on the Northside and still lives there, and he’s particular about keeping a clean work area – his drop cloths and vacuums are set up before anything else comes off the truck.
Lena P. – Service Coordinator
Lena is the voice on the other end of (904) 453-7823 when you call during business hours, and she’s been with us for six years. She schedules every appointment, sends you the technician’s name and photo before the visit, and makes sure your written price is delivered before any work begins. Lena knows the Jacksonville market well enough to tell you whether your Riverside bungalow’s chimney is typical for its age or whether something about it sounds unusual before a technician even arrives. She’s originally from Savannah and claims Jacksonville has better barbecue, which she will defend at length if you get her started. If you call at 11 p.m. on a Saturday because something smells like smoke, you’ll still reach a live person – that’s how we built this around the clock, not with a voicemail box.
Anthony C. – Apprentice Technician
Anthony has been with Alcott Chimney Jacksonville for two years, training under Marcus and DeShawn on sweeps, inspections, and repair prep work. He’s already earned his certifications on basic chimney sweeping and Level 1 inspection procedures, and he’s working toward his liner installation training this year. Like every technician we send to a home, Anthony passed a background check and identity verification before he ever rode along on his first job. He’s a Jacksonville native, went to school in Arlington, and still plays rec-league soccer on the Southside. You’ll often see him handling the sweep itself while Marcus runs the camera inspection, and he’s good at walking homeowners through what he’s seeing without talking over their heads.
One Standard, Every Job
Every person listed above works the same way, and that’s deliberate. Alcott Chimney Jacksonville is an independently owned and operated location within the Threshold Group family, which means we carry the same standards across our network without losing the local crew you actually meet. Every technician, from Marcus on down to Anthony, has passed a background check and identity verification before stepping onto a customer’s property. You get their name and photo before the visit, and they show a photo ID badge at the door. You get a written price before any work starts, every time, no exceptions. Every repair carries a written guarantee, and if that repair fails within the coverage period, the second visit is free. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it applies to every job, whether it’s a routine sweep in Riverside or a full liner replacement in Mandarin. We don’t do “good enough” crews for some neighborhoods and better crews for others. The same standard applies across the board.
Ruben Castellano, Owner at Alcott Chimney Jacksonville, puts it this way: “Anyone can buy a brush and call themselves a chimney sweep. The hard part is showing up with a name, a face, and a price in writing before you touch anything. That’s the whole job.”
